Some classic horror movies are getting a fresh coat of blood.
Modern franchises such as “The Conjuring”/“Annabelle” and the “Insidious” movies; the race-based shocks of “Get Out”; and the one-off frights of “It Follows,” “Don’t Breathe,” “Split,” “The Bye Bye Man,” “The Forest,” “Lights Out,” “Wish Upon” and “Happy Death Day” (opening Friday) offer varying degrees of chills.
But a few oldies but goodies are still proving their worth.
Michael Myers, the Jigsaw Killer, Leatherface, Chucky, the Creeper, Ghostface, Norman Bates, and various demons and aliens have been slicing, slashing, stabbing and sawing back into moviegoers’ nightmares recently. And Pennywise, the child-snatching clown from the “It” remake, is credited with resurrecting a dead box office with its record-breaking ticket sales.
Take a look at some fearsome favorites that are making a comeback.
