Last week the Kenora Catholic District School Board welcomed their new student trustee, Maxwell Froese. He will serve a two-year term from 2020 – 2022 joining senior Student Trustee, Julia Tkachuk.
The Student Trustees represent the views and perspectives of students across the system.
“Max is a phenomenal student who plays in the senior band and on the basketball team. He also volunteers in his spare time,” said Julia Tkachuk as she introduced Maxwell. “I am very excited to see what we will accomplish in the future.”
Maxwell looks forward to joining the Trustee team.
“I want to respectfully represent the questions, concerns and goals of students across the board. I will do my best to gain others’ respect, be an exemplary Catholic role model and value student relationships.”
Froese takes the place of Clareynze Ceria, who served as Student Trustee from 2018 – 2020.
In her final report, Ceria thanked the Trustees for the opportunity to serve.
“This being my last report, I want to thank the Trustees, Board members and my fellow students for giving me the opportunity of being the voice of students. It’s an honour to work and grow closer with each and every one of you, and I will miss all of your smiling faces.”
Ceria is graduating this year and will pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Seven Generations Education Institute in September. She is looking forward to her post-secondary education as she has a passion for helping people.
"Ever since I was young, I've always wanted to become a nurse. I look highly to the nurses and doctors and I like taking care of people. I want to do something that could make a difference in other people's lives. I think nursing is one of the most rewarding professions there is because you can help save lives, bring smiles and provide help and care to others."
Teresa Gallik, Chair, presented Clareynze Ceria and Julia Tkachuk with a plaque honouring their dedication and service as Student Trustees for the 2019 – 2020 school year.
The Student Trustees serve an essential role by being Catholic role-models and representing students in decisions about education. They are responsible for keeping students informed and leading student-focused initiatives for the Kenora Catholic District School Board.
